ARGFest-O-Con is a full weekend of fun with just enough seriousness thrown in to keep us honest. While the schedule is still being worked out, you can expect the following:

Badge Pickup

Registrants’ access badges may be picked up beginning at 2:00pm on Friday, July 17, in the ARGFest-o-Con Hospitality Suite. The suite number will be reposted on Twitter (@argfest) on Friday. Badges may also be claimed at the entrance to Friday and Saturday main events. Registration at the Door will be available just prior to and during all Friday and Saturday main events for an increased price, subject to available space.

ARGFest Workshop :: 2:00 - 6:00 (Hospitality Suite, Room 305)

Wanna get your hands dirty doing something fun - and by fun, we mean the sekrit and evil kind of fun? Then you will want to participate in Friday’s ARGFest Workshop where you’ll be able to hang out with your fellow ‘Festers while creating some unique swag that you may or may not find fairly useful at some point during the weekend. The best part? The workshop will be held in the ARGFest Suite, so you’ll know when your friends arrive and check in.

Cost: $5 for materials (free for those that do twice the work)

Robot Speed Dating :: 6:00 - 7:00 (Maple Room)

Are you looking for that special lovebot? Or maybe you need someone a bit more human in your life? You’re sure to find them at this official Robot Friend Finder Robot Speed Dating event because everyone Must Love Robots…. right?

Cost: Free, but be sure to register at
Note: This event is sponsored by Awkward Hug, the fiendishly funny minds behind MLR. It may or may not be in game but, of course, all are welcome!

Meet & Greet Cocktail Reception :: 7:00 - 10:00 (Sequoia Ballroom)

Whether this is your first ARGFest or eighth, you don’t want to miss this traditional (and casual) start to the ARGFest-ivities. It’s always fun and the first chance you’ll have to meet many of your fellow players & co-conspirators face to face. A wide selection of hors d’oeuvres will be provided with beer, wine, and liquor available at the cash bar.

Cost: $35 ($25 if registering online before July 16)

Conference Sessions :: 8:30 - 4:45 (Sequoia Ballroom)

Taking a closer look at the genre, this year’s conference panels will range from “Blurring the Lines” to “Expanding Horizons” and include presentations on several games that we don’t know much about, but should! including two foreign language ARGs (Mazda’s 33 Keys in French, The Pirates Society in German) and the, local to San Francisco, Jejune Institute. For a full list of sessions, check out the Schedule page.

Cost: $84  ($74 if registering online before July 16)

FestQuest :: 4:45 - 6:45 (Sequoia Ballroom to Streets of Portland)

While the details are shrouded in mystery from this conference planner, you can be sure that there are a handful of people who are up to know good creating what is sure to be a fun and puzzle-y scavenger hunt through downtown Portland.

Cost: Included with the conference

Keynote Dinner :: 6:30 - 10:00 (Sequoia Ballroom)

The Saturday Evening Keynote Dinner is a first for ARGFest and we couldn’t be happier to have Jordan Weisman joining us to deliver the keynote presentation. From food to friends, this should be a fabulous evening. Note, it will be a catered dinner, so we do ask that anyone who is interested in attending to register for the dinner as soon as possible. (silly caterers and their need for numbers!)

Cost: $55 ($45 if registering online before July 16)

Stragglers’ Supper :: 6:00 (P.F. Chang’s)

Those fortunate enough to be sticking around Portland until late on Sunday or beyond are encouraged to come together for one last time before putting another ARGFest to rest. Dinner will be at PF Changs (an ARGFest tradition) with random fun and frivolity following.

Cost: Each person is responsible for covering their own costs.

Stragglers’ Supper is presented by The Contingency Foundation.

Note: there may be games and other activities that are clues and events for various Alternate Reality Games. These are not affiliated with ARGfest, but the nature of the conference seems to invite such things to happen. If you would like to have a live event or otherwise promote your game during the weekend, you need to contact the conference organizers.
